Launceston Place
After D&D London acquired Launceston Place, it was re-launched in March 2008 and has once again become the hub of good eating in Kensington. The influences of head chef Tristan Welch, who moved in from the two Michelin starred Petrus, are evident in the menu which now offers modern British food in a delightfully contemporary setting.

Min Jiang
"Chinese restaurant opens in London", not a headline that is normally likely to inspire enormous interest, however, in the case of Min Jiang at The Royal Garden it ought to as it sets new quality standards in so many areas.

Papaya Tree, The
This is a contemporary style Thai restaurant with lightly coloured walls and wooden floors, serving authentic Thai cuisine using fresh herbs flown in from Thailand. Don't let the fact that it is in a basement put you off; all you can spot is a simple glass doorway on Kensington High Street but even as you step inside it appears a lot more welcoming than many.

L Restaurant and Bar
L Restaurant and Bar has replaced one of London's landmark restaurants, Trattoo, created originally some forty years ago by the famous theatrical designer Sean Kenny for Mario and Franco, though sadly in recent years it had reached the stage of being rather like a faded elderly lady badly in need of a complete makeover.

Cafe Pasta - Kensington
Cafe Pasta may be part of a large chain of restaurants, but it is nevertheless a stylish eatery with a relaxed cafe feel. The straightforward menu specialises in Italian fare and it does not limit itself to pastas alone, but goes on to list a range of grills, salads and risottos, and twelve inch stone baked pizzas among other popular dishes.

Cafe Rouge - Lancer Square
Café Rouge has around one hundred branches throughout Britain all offering a wide range of dishes drawn from the French cuisine. Slightly less than half their branches are in or close to London.
